  • Happy World Card Making Day! 

    Created this card for today. Used a sketch from Papertrey ink and OWH's theme of "love".

    Stamping outside the shape. I like both versions of this. It works up relatively quickly and color combinations are endless! I will try a monochromatic version next - similar to the heart masking card.

  • I would never have thought to ink up the inner edge of a stencil too! I used the negative of the bracket rectangle I cut on my silhouette to make this card. So cute!

    Day 3 is about Optical Illusions - FUN!

    I love this design/style even more than I'd anticipated. It's so versatile and playful! I followed Laura Bassen's masked and circle stamp idea. And I'm always happy if I can make cards that are masculine-ish b/c that's the hardest for me. The 1" post-it tape is so handy for masking off a border like this. Ill have to try some bigger dies and some masking sheets (which I have yet to buy - as if i need to shop more!).

    I cheated a bit b/c I messed up doing this straight on the card. So I stamped it all on a separate sheet that I can mount on a card. AND of course right when I'm about to finish, I realized there was a big ol' nasty smudge at the bottom of the card in the white space. I used a blade to sort of scratch off the surface but it's a bit fuzzy now. So I think I'll end up trimming the card front down to have a white space around the inked area and mount it on a Kraft card. I didn't think of that until this morning so I haven't had a chance to do it yet since I took this picture last night.

  • I love when animals sleep and they dream so they're moving their little limbs around chasing whatever it is they're dreaming about and making little wimpering/snorting sounds. SO CUTE! So naturally, I was a total sucker for this stamp set as soon as I saw it on Simon Says Stamp. It's so stinkin' cute! On the Pillow Talk set, there are a few cute sentiments with mixed fonts (clean + handwritten). There's a "dreaming of you" stamp but the "you" is handwritten which wouldn't fit on this banner. So I stamped "dreaming of" then the "you" from "wishing you a cozy day". I had die cut some banners before from paint chips (yes... like behr, bnejamin moore, etc) and had them stored in the pocket with the die. This one just happened to match perfectly with the darker stripes on the My Mind's Eye paper. I think this could fit in the "missing you" category for OWH.  Wanted to keep it masculine with the color scheme (because as usual, I'm drawn to more girly paper patterns) but I got the 6x6 pad at Michael's on sale just an hour or 2 before. Simple and cute :D I'll probably make a few more of these with different dogs and some cats too.

  • This one was a bit messy. I mean I couldn't figure out what to do with all of the elements. I had the flower cut from my silhouette and the layers were already assembled. I just hadn't used it until now! Also, I'd used a brass colored brad in the center. Painted it gold with some nail polish just so it was at least in the same color family/zone. Also painted the center flower elements with Perfect Pearls Perfect Gold.

  • So if you're in the holiday card class, and you watched Laura Bassen's video, you can imagine why I was giggling while I was making this card. She's HILARIOUS! 

    I used the Simon Says Stamp stripe stencil for the lines. Finally! a plaid/gingham I can make!

    For inks, I used Distress Ink Pine Needles (it's like needles... but more pine-y), DI Crushed Olive (it's like... olive... but more crushed...), DI Peeled Paint (it's like paint.. but more peeled...), and DI Pumice Stone (it's like stone.. but more pumice-ier). Okay I'm done with that. but still funny!

    For the sentiment, the "Happy" is masked and comes from Avery Elle Oh Happy Day. and the "Christmas" is from SSS Happy Meowday.The holly berries are from Stampendous set Christmas Wishes.
  • I've been dying to use this stamp set since I bought it but never got around to it. Perfect time to use it - for card class! 

    I was attempting to make a card inspired by Laura Bassen's day 3 plaid card. The truth is, I'm still terrible at stamping plaid. I tried and made some really hideous patterns. Lol. So in comes a chance for me to use my 6x6 designer paper pads that I seem to collect. I used the general idea then went a little further. I do love how they turned out though!

    The sentiment is normally "wishing you a cozy day" but I masked off "day" and used a Lawn Fawn alpha set to write "Holiday" to make this card more seasonal. It also helped using my winter/Christmas designer paper. I love the little pillows! 

    The fish (cat card) and bone (dog card) are colored in with Ranger Perfect Pearls in mandarin and biscotti. I'm so so so in love with perfect pearls. Maybe because I used to buy a lot of makeup and it sort of reminds me of those loose powders. The shimmery-ness makes me swoon! 



  • Long day at work.. And I just wanted to make a card. I haven't finished the inside yet. I don't have any embossing folders (or even a die cutting machine yet! *waiting for Christmas*) so I went with the SSS diagonal stripes stencil and Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste and masked off the area where I put the washi tape. The cat stamp was longer than I thought (I don't have many Christmas stamps) which made or little to no room for a sentiment. So instead of putting a sentiment on the front, I'll put it on the inside.  I probably went overkill with textures and colors on this! And of course, I painted kitty to look like my Mini. 


    Yeah, this is my Mini girl :)


  • My nephew's birthday is coming up and for whatever reasons, I have trouble with boy cards. I love this stamp set from simonsaysstamp.com. The card is perfect for my nephew because he has a couple of bee pillow pets which he can't love without. And this is pretty gender neutral so I'll be sending this to him at the end of the month (stuffed with a little money). 



  • Honestly I didn't even know there was such a holiday but what a great excuse to make a card!
