  • Made this for my friend's new born. Well more for her parents, but you know what I mean. Design by MyCasualWhimsy on Etsy.
  • This card is dedicated to Giorgia one of the sweetest craft girls on IG. She's Italian but speaks English really well. As an American I don't even notice when I use colloquialisms or metaphors that to me seem natural but sound probably really strange to a not native-English speaker. One of the crafty gals mentioned that Giorgia is "busy as a beaver" and so she googled "BEAVER" which returned some photos/articles of the non-4 legged but still furry persuasion.. Needless to say she was terribly confused about the phrase so as a supportive giggle about the whole situation, a few of us decided to make a card dedicated to her and this one is mine.

  • Mother's day is right around the corner and I didn't wait until the last minute to make a card. Go me! Because I'm seriously good at procrastinating. But seriously, my mom is one of the sweetest women I know and I'm lucky to have been raised by such a caring, generous, and happy lady.

The cut file is from svgcuts.com

  • Picked up this gift card pop-up box cut file from the silhouette store when there was a sale. Love this! Every time I find something new and fancy I can make with my silhouette, I get excited! This design is by Jamie Lane Designs. So cute!

My niece turns 18 today and yes, by the time the mailed gift arrives to her, it'll be late. But it's ok. Gift cards don't go bad!

This is my sweet birthday girl! She amazes me every day. She has an incredibly good heart and she's so talented - Beautiful inside and out! She graduates from high school next month at the top of her class and will attend BYU Provo in the fall along with her sister who will be a Junior! Watch out world, the Graviet girls are together again! Happy Birthday, sweets! So proud of you and love you tons!

  • A birthday card for my big sister!

Design is from svgcuts.com and scaled down to fit my silhouette portrait.

  • Another 3D box card - custom for my friend's nephew. Hello, Monkey!

Base is originally from svgcuts.com. The monkey and cupcake elements are from misskatecuttables.com

  • Made this one for my niece for her birthday. I love this one!

  • Created this card using the free (at the time) silhouette cut file for flowers in a bell jar for my sister. I got crazy ambitious and made it into a shaker shape! I used the belljar shape and created an edge only shape of the belljar using silhouette designer. Then cut 1 layer of transparency film for the bell jar cover + 8 layers of transparency film for the edges to make the center hollow. I threw a couple of sequins and beads in there then glued the cover on. It turned out cuter than I'd expected!
Admittedly this project did take me a few hours (~5 hours I think) with all of the planning, cutting, gluing. And then I made an envelope for it since the whole card + easel was an odd shape. I used my envelope punch board and made this envelope based on an idea from My Blue Bike 101 who had a video about making coin envelopes.
It all came together so well! I used a bunch of techniques I was new to or had never done before and was super happy when I was done! And of course my sister loved it which made it all worth while!

I had seen this amazing rose cut file used a couple of times on a few crafters' sites. Isn't it gorgeous? It's the 3D rose from Jamie Cripps. My mom loved it. She's got a major green thumb and has quite a few rose bushes and trellises out in her backyard.
The card base is the doily easel card from Bird's Cards. I love how it frames the huge rose perfectly.
Then I used a couple of small flower punches (from stampin up) and a little glittery butterfly I cut from my silhouette as details on the Happy Mother's Day tag sentiment.

  • Kong and his wife Teresa are friends of my parents with whom they cruise with quite often. He's turning 80 in a few days and my parents commissioned a card from me for his birthday. I don't have any sentiments about being getting old or anything like that.. so I had to make this one up.
The car is from an image I manually made shapes for to cut with my Silhouette. Hooray for my Portrait!
It turned out cute enough ^_^

Stamps: Simon Says Stamp - Sketchy Banners, Unknown company - script letter stamp set (~10 yrs old)
Tools: Silhouette Portrait, Silhouette Designer Studio, Stampin Up Flourish Tag Punch
  • Aren't these too cute? Found the idea on artschooldropout's blog

  • So I've been looking at DIY lightbox tutorials all over the net/pinterest for my card making photography. I dont have a set workspace in my house other than my dining room and dining table for my crafting so right now my only light is my chandelier. I decided to try at least just cutting a box and using white tissue paper to disperse the light. Now to find reasonably priced lamps. I did try using a couple of small led flashlights I have but the light was kind of blue-ish and made the whole picture just look blue-washed.
Anyway, as time goes on, I'll figure out something better for lighting

This is a silhouette cut from A Little Hut. It turned out pretty cute.

And this is what my DIY lightbox looks like. I used a Bath & Body Works box. Not too big and cute pattern on the inside ^_^

  • I bought the magazine "Card Creations for Him" by Papercraft & Scrapbooking while I was at Joann's a few weeks ago because, honestly, I'm terrible at making masculine cards. I needed some serious inspiration. And this magazine came to the rescue! Here's a card I made based on a design from the magazine. How cute (and cool) is that! I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut the surfboards and "dude". The water is a piece of water color paper I had left over from some experimenting with distress inks. I really love this card.

  •  A quick thank you card for my coworker who is lending me his season 7 of Doctor Who! I got the bow template sent to me from my friend @trishaliang on IG. Here's a link to the blog post on Lia Griffith's blog with a silhouette cut file http://liagriffith.com/how-to-make-the-paper-bows/
I got to use a new embossing folder too!

  • Day 2 class included a lesson on  Layered Die Cut Inlay. I didn't have much time as I had dinner with my family then met up with Teresa for some Michael's browsing (PL albums were buy 1 get 1 free!). By the time I got home it was 9pm and I finished the 4 card fronts below (I should do more stamping and more sparkles...) by 11:15pm.  I really just wanted to try the technique. But how to do it without craft dies... *ponder ponder*

Once again, I have to get creative with my card making because I don't have a die cutter yet. I used my silhouette to cut out various shapes:
    • trees/house and snowflake are from Birds Cards Xmas Cut Files
    • "joy" is text I welded together
I cut the design from 4 sheets of different colored cardstock and proceeded to put the puzzles back together! Because I did it this way, and didn't have time to figure out how to layer the cuts in the silhouette software in a clean way, I didnt actually layer the elements. They're all independent..

I haven't even had the chance to trim and put these on cards yet. I'd like to probably add some small embellishments and/or glitters. These were more just a chance to try out the technique that Jennifer McGuire showed in class. I actually enjoyed putting these together because I like puzzles and I like meticulous detail type of work. I know.. I'm weird.

A side shot of the first card front to show how flat this card is. SO COOL! Also, I think I need a new blade for my silhouette... the snowflake cuts were a bit fuzzy.
