  • A friend of mine requested a handmade card from me.. specifically a card designed by Yainea over at My Paper Journey which my friend completely fell in love with! It's a super cute card which I'd pinned a while back while trying to figure out how to use this particular stamp set. I commented on Yainea's post and asked if I could CASE the card and thankfully she said yes! So here it is.. an adorable card using the Lawn Fawn sushi set called "Let's Roll". I colored the images using my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.


    As part of the card/gift, the recipient would be getting 2 gift cards. I created 2 gift card pockets out of fiber paper and die cut some extra sakura blossoms to decorate with. My friend requested that the recipient's name was on the card so I stamped "Charlene" using Milo's ABCs from Lawn Fawn and the  "Congratulations" stamp is from Avery Elle.


    On the back, went with a humorous stamp from Sweet Stamp Shop. And of course I signed it in lime green to match the polka dot paper on the front.


    I went one step further and made a coordinating sushi themed envelope. I stamped it in Memento Dew Drop ink Pear Tart.

  • Thank you cards I made for my parents and sisters for all of my birthday gifts and love!
    My sister (and her daughters) that picked up the card making hobby bought me the More Fresh Cut Florals stamps and dies! SO CUTE. The middle card uses the original set and I still love it.

    Don't mind the cruddy lighting. I took the photos at work and used an old journaling sheet divider as the background instead of my ugly cream desk. lol.


  • I like when stamp designers make smaller sets with a few stamps. I don't feel as guilty spending money for a few very useful stamps.
    This one is Elegant flowers by Sweet Stamp Shop. This might be one I'd make into a set to give as a gift. a few of each color. Also, I really love the gold splatters. I made the black splatters on the pink card a bit too big.

    So lessons for this course are over (boo!) and this is one design idea I was determined to try before the class finished. I followed Pamela Ho's card design but haven't done the embossing powder portion of the tutorial yet (clear embossing one or a couple of triangles). But the design is so cool. The hardest part is making the shapes appear random. Her card design is larger, but I figured this would be a good start. I really like this idea. It's simple, but bold. I could make a bunch of these pretty easily (it would just take time to lay out the masked shapes.

    Stamping outside the shape. I like both versions of this. It works up relatively quickly and color combinations are endless! I will try a monochromatic version next - similar to the heart masking card.

  • I would never have thought to ink up the inner edge of a stencil too! I used the negative of the bracket rectangle I cut on my silhouette to make this card. So cute!

    I followed Heather Campbell's day 2 example here. I get the idea, but it's a bit challenging to keep all of the pieces in the appropriate order. I used post it tape to keep the chevrons in place while I fiddled with the other die cut pieces.

  • Saw some watercolor techniques with distress inks from Kristina Werner so I definitely had to try it out. Plus some paper piecing which I LOVE but I'm often too lazy to do! haha

  • I was trying out some paper piecing ideas I had in my head. Not as successful as I'd like. But it's still an interesting card. Originally, I got inspired by this card made by riesling mama. But when I tried to make that card, It just looked all mish-mash-chaotic-all-over-the-place. I had the same paper with me so I attempted to change it a little and got these diagonal bars.


     
    Then the space above and below the sentiment + pieces  was too bare and I needed a softer background to balance the hard edges. In came my wood stamp and my perfect pearls. I think I like it... but not completely loving it.

  • The Stenciled Online Card Class is over (boooo! T_T) but I'm still attempting to use the techniques. I didn't immediately reference any videos for this and I just pulled the technique from memory - I figured if I can remember it, it must've made a strong enough impression that I should try it. I've seen this done a few times - using the stencil to fill in color and then shifting the stencil to fill in more empty space. I LOVE how this background turned out!

    I picked out my pinkish distress inks and inked the colors in an ombre fashion diagonally from upper left to lower right corner. Then I cleaned off the stencil and positioned the stencil to cover the inked areas. Then I inked ombre again from lower right to upper left.

  • So if you're in the holiday card class, and you watched Laura Bassen's video, you can imagine why I was giggling while I was making this card. She's HILARIOUS! 

    I used the Simon Says Stamp stripe stencil for the lines. Finally! a plaid/gingham I can make!

    For inks, I used Distress Ink Pine Needles (it's like needles... but more pine-y), DI Crushed Olive (it's like... olive... but more crushed...), DI Peeled Paint (it's like paint.. but more peeled...), and DI Pumice Stone (it's like stone.. but more pumice-ier). Okay I'm done with that. but still funny!

    For the sentiment, the "Happy" is masked and comes from Avery Elle Oh Happy Day. and the "Christmas" is from SSS Happy Meowday.The holly berries are from Stampendous set Christmas Wishes.

    Used liquid pearl for the centers.

  • Used the beautiful "Oh Happy Day" stamp set from Avery Elle that I picked up on simonsaysstamp.com. I LOVE this set. The handwritten sentiments are gorgeous!! I need to learn calligraphy. Lol. 

    Inspired by a card post from Nichol Magouirk using a mama elephant stamp set (which I bought and can't wait to try!!) called "Water Blooms". Love the monochromatic design and the little birdies!
